Orange Democratic Movement party has admitted that her candidate for Kibra by-election is not heavy pocketed like some of his competitors.
On Tuesday, the party agreed to have all MPs contributing at least Sh50,000 to Imran Okoth's campaign kitty, a move that will help him campaign.
“The meeting was majorly about the Kibra campaigns. We want to involve the MPs. We have agreed on a certain amount, but we have said they can contribute as much as they can,” Junet Mohamed had said.
Mr Okoth with will be competing with Jubilee's McDonald Mariga, Eliud Owalo of Amani National Congress and Eng Ramadhan Khamisi of Ford Kenya among others.
And on Wednesday, the party held a fundraiser in Nairobi which ODM leader Raila Odinga attended in person along with several other MPs.
Mr Mohamed took a swipe at Mariga and Owalo, adding that despite minimal resources by the ODM team, the seat will be retained by Okoth.
"Our candidate does not have the kind of money that is being pumped in Kibra by gamblers and illicit traders.
"So we are here to ensure his message is not drowned in the cheap politics of voter bribery that is now being introduced in Kibra. He will win. #VoteImran #ForwardTogether," he wrote.
IEBC has scheduled November 7th as the date for the polls. The seat was left vacant following the death of Ken Okoth, a brother to ODM candidate Mr Imran Okoth.
