The influx of foreigners into different sectors of the economy is not good for the nation, Awendo Member of Parliament Walter Owino has said.
The lawmaker now wants the foreigners restricted from working in some of the sectors of the economy.
He believes that the move will pave way for locals to benefit from the fruits of devolution.
Owino has insisted that foreigners should only be allowed to take part in business locals are not ready to invest their hard earned money.
“I want to tell government officers in charge of trade in our country, that we’re really not against foreign investors coming to invest in Kenya, because we also have our people who have invested and are doing business in other countries,” stated the legislator on Saturday, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
He reminded the government to ensure that all the business the foreigners in the country have been doing should be regulated by all means.
The sentiments of the lawmaker come after his Starehe counterpart Charles ‘Jaguar’ Kanyi landed in trouble after he threatened to personally deport all Chinese and other foreigners engaging in business meant for the locals.
The lawmaker has changed his tune and said that he respects foreigners but they need to be restricted.
