Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi alias Sonko moved to court on Thursday in a bid to stop the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) from continuing with investigations against him.
Sonko now wants a different agency to take up the investigation as he believes the EACC, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have undermined the case by trying to change the results of the investigation to his disadvantage.
According to the petition, the entire investigation against the governor is compromised.
Sonko's lawyer Cecil Miller further added that most of the allegations against his client did not have a strong foundation.
“The respondents as state officers and public officers are abusing their offices by serving partisan interests by initiating frivolous, unjustified, unwarranted and baseless allegations and complaints against those they which to settle sources with and they are after influencing the outcomes of the unwarranted investigations,” Miller stated as quoted by Nation.
In the petition, Sonko also complained over the summons that he has been receiving from EACC for questioning. He has been summoned four times within three months with the latest summon being on November 5 where he appeared before the anti-graft agency.
Sonko has accused Abdi Mohamud who is the Director of Investigations at EACC of being behind his woes.
The governor is under investigations for allegedly excluding some of the details from the declaration from while contesting for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
