An Administration Police Officer attached to Kowino AP Camp in Migori County and a woman she was carrying on a motorcycle on Tuesday perished in a grisly road accident after they were run over by a speeding car.
According to an eye witness, the AP and his passenger were heading towards Isebania when they were knocked by a Toyota Touring Wagon KAY 525B at Namba junction along the busy Migori -Isebania highway.
"The driver of the car was at a high speed when he ran over the motorbike killing the officer instantly," said the witness.
Migori County Police commander Joseph Nthenge confirmed the incident saying the driver of the I'll fated car appeared drunk when the accident occurred.
"We received information that one of our officers attached to Kowino AP camp was involved in a grisly accident as he was heading to the camp from Migori town, the officer died on the spot while his passenger succumbed to injuries as she was being rushed to Ojele Memorial Hospital.
Mr Nthenge said the car owner was drunk when the accident occurred.
" We have so far arrested the suspect and will arraign him in court once we have completed investigations", said Nthenge.
The bodies were taken to Migori Level 5 Hospital mortuary.
