On Saturday, a group of legislators led by Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter accused Ruto to sabotaging maize farmers for his own benefit.

"He is telling us to plant avocados and macadamia so that he can import maize from his 500,000 Ha farm in Congo. We know those tricks and he's the problem on delayed payment," he said.

But through nominated MP Gideon Keter, Ruto accuses the MPs of losing focus by diverging their energies on 'trivialities'.

Mr Keter further insisted that Ruto's recent trip to Congo had nothing to do with his maize farm, instead, he focused on bilateral relations with the Central African nation.

"DP travelled to Brazzaville, Congo in September with a large delegation comprising Mining and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary John Munyes, governors Kahiga Mutahi (Nyeri) and Granton Samboja (Taita Taveta) and Trade Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo for official talks with Congolese leaders on how to boost economic coexistence in the region.

"Telling us that DP want to supply maize from his 500,000-acre maize plantation in Congo because he was addressing a regional forum in the same country two months ago amounts to idiocy," he wrote.https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2017799181592636&id=799457250093508

He accused MPs Alfred Keter, Joshua Kutuny and Silas Tiren of being under instructions from Kabarak to taint the DP's reputation.

"They were the once used to spread calls for referendum but were ashamed when Ruto confessed that he was not opposed to change of law. They have again gone for another loot of money to ignite nonexistent propaganda.Don’t blame DP for your problems. Deal with your own messes."
