Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has rubbished calls asking him to resign over contraband sugar report that was rejected in Parliament on Thursday last week.
The MP says that those calling for his resignation are playing dirty politics.
Duale says that he and other MPs have not done anything wrong for them to be condemned and asked to resign.
Duale said that he cannot resign for demanding detailed report on contraband sugar.
"Why are some people angry just because we rejected the sugar report that had so many gaps," he said as quoted by a local daily.
Duale said that he is committed to pushing the interests of Kenyans and not those of individuals.
He said that the decision to oppose the sugar report which he said was shoddy was in the interest of Kenyans.
"We want a through report that can be actioned on and not one with many gaps," the Garissa lawmaker said.
A section of politicians are calling for Duale's resignation on grounds of failing to provide direction on the sugar report.
Duale is among MPs who opposed the report with claims now emerging that some legislators picked Sh10,000 as bribes to reject the report.
Pressure is now mounting on investigative agencies to launch probe into the claims of MPs demanding and taking bribes to write favorable reports.
The speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi says the bribery claims will be investigated.
