National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has rubbished a proposal by Senate Minority Leader James Orengo to impeach Deputy President William Ruto.
Orengo on Sunday threatened to table a motion in Parliament to remove the DP from power over alleged "gross misconduct".
Speaking in Ugenya Constituency, the Siaya Senator said he will mobilise Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and Jubilee Party lawmakers to ensure Ruto is impeached.
However, Duale has laughed off the plan, terming it the "joke of the year" which only qualifies to be debated in funerals and not in the House.
Speaking to the Nation on Tuesday, the Garissa Township legislator said the proposal was doomed to fail and dared the vocal senator to table it in Parliament.
"Orengo can only rally his members in the Senate, and I dare him to take that action. It’s like driving on Thika Superhighway without brakes; he will crash," he said.
Duale distanced the ruling party from the proposal which has sparked off a heated debate across the country, saying the political outfit is fully behind the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta and the DP.
"Jubilee is behind its party leader and his deputy. Orengo is a stranger in the Jubilee family," said Duale.
