Deputy President William Ruto represented his boss and President Uhuru Kenyatta during the installation of Philip Anyolo as the new Archbishop of the Kisumu Catholic Archdiocese.
The event was also attended by opposition leader Raila Odinga, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetangula among others and hundreds of faithful.
It was held at the Uzima Medical University Grounds in Kisumu on Saturday.
Uhuru also sent his deputy to present his gift to the new Catholic boss in the region.
The DP said that Uhuru played a major role in contributing the funds used to acquire it.
He added that the guzzler will enable the Archbishop cruise past all barriers on his way to delivering the word of God across the region.
“As a spiritual leader overseeing parts of northern Kenya from Turkana, Kisumu to Migori, we have decided to come together and give you a vehicle which will enable you to visit people around your region,” he was quoted by the Nation.
This, however, comes at a time when Uhuru band Ruto are said to have grown distant, following a moment of political attacks, counter attacks and suspicion.
The two leaders who were until recently very close have since grown apart since the March 9 truce between Uhuru and Raila, a reconciliation Ruto's allies are observing as an attempt to sabotage his 2022 presidential dreams.
The two are said to have gone silent on each other for the last three weeks.
