Controversial Lawyer Miguna Miguna has welcomed the arrest of former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.
Kidero was on Wednesday arrested by the anti-graft watchdog, Ethics, and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers, to face graft charges.
In a tweet later in the day, Miguna who vied for the seat in the previous election, however, noted that the arrest remains meaningless, as a bigger rot still exists in the main government.
The opposition activist who has been pushing for a complete overhaul of the nation's top leadership observed that corruption will only come to an end after the exit of President Uhuru Kenyatta's leadership.
"I applaud the arrest of Kidero Evans for theft of public resources, money laundering, racketeering, bribery and conflict of interest and the arraignment in court of a few of his errand boys and girls," he said.
"But their arrests are meaningless until we remove the despots from power," added the outspoken barrister.
Kidero's unceremonious arrest and detention come only several weeks after sitting Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong's similar treatment.
Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji has since approved the arrests.
He has confirmed that there is sufficient evidence linking the former county chief and 7 others to mismanagement and embezzlement of public funds.
