Kenya has lagged behind in terms of development because of massive graft, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has said.
Speaking Women’s Conference for the Friends Church in Chavakali, Mudavadi said that he is fully behind President Uhuru Kenyatta in the fight against the loss of public resources.
He said that Chief Justice David Maraga’s admission that parliament and executive have been stumbling blocks in the war against corrupt individuals are unfortunate.
Mudavadi, who is considered one of the possible presidential candidates in 2022, said that time has come for reforms.
He insisted that it is only through the reforms that the government will win the war against the vice. Mudavadi also said that Maraga has been given the mandate to ensure corrupt persons are arrested and taken to court.
“Maraga is the Chief Justice and the President of the Judiciary in Kenya. His sentiments should be taken very seriously and the mentioned persons go back to the drawing board to see where they are failing the country,” Mudavadi said.
The remarks come at a time when President Uhuru has maintained that he will not tolerate corrupt persons in his government. He has vowed to deal with all corrupt persons before he completes his second and final term in office.
