Speaking to journalists on Monday, Wetangula announced he had quit opposition coalition, the National Super Alliance (NASA), adding that he will vie for the top seat on his FORD-Kenya party ticket.

"I lead a party that has a history and has fought so hard to level the playing field in this country. I'm a presidential candidate and my party has endorsed me for the seat," Wetangula said.

The announcement caused a stir online as some Kenyans scorned off the ambition while others encouraged Wetangula not to look back.

Chris Allindi said: "I think Weta should join Churchill Live Show."

Philip Ruttosh posted: "Why not? Concerning the current situation in Kenya, even better we have a blind man to be President than this that pretend to better our lives and they are the worst! Then let's give him a chance. He should now develop to be a national figure."

"No. I already know who is the next President. Wetangula will not be president before Raila," Oria Leide S said.

Daniel Wafula Wekesa remarked: "FORD-K remains the most vibrant party in Western Kenya and other parts of the country. We managed to kick out ODM from our turfs and we care less about there handshake coz we don't sacrifice people to get nusu-mkate. nkt."

"No, not in anyway. Weta is a waste, he is more of a warlord than a statesman," stated David Ngugi.

Ben Cruz Setfree posted: "How now? Do we really want a crying freeman as President? Just asking politely."

Shiku J Kigondu added her voice to the raging debate: "The sky is the limit for Wetangula."

Vincent Max remarked: "Very far from becoming."

"FORD-K is an old opposition party yes but its muscles ended the day Kijana Wamalwa was buried. To realize any meaningful seriousness in politics, Wetangula should devolve FORD-K and join forces with Mudavadi to team up with DP Ruto," noted Moses Chumbe.

Chris Wabwire posted: "Until Jesus comes back maybe; he can be!"

"Wapi, he is a joker," added Joseph Makubuya.
