Sharon was abducted in Rongo in September last year, before being found brutally murdered in a Homa Bay thicket.

Nine months later, Melida says that the memories of her daughter are still fresh in her mind, especially when she remembers the painful death she was subjected to.

“Losing a child through normal death can make her go out of memory faster than when she is murdered. I have not accepted that Sharon is dead,” she told the Standard.

Sharon's mother noted that she visits the grave of her late daughter at her grandfather's home in Magare village, Homa Bay county, which is already grassy.

“I weep every time I see her grave. I can’t still believe she is not around,” she said.

Melida noted that despite being a student, Sharon supported the family financially.

She said that Sharon ran a boutique in Homa Bay Town, and channeled part of the money to the family, but her employees stole goods after her death, collapsing the business.

Sharon's death was blamed on Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his aides; Caspal Obiero, and Michael Oyamo.

Governor Obado admitted having been in a romantic relationship with her.
