Kirinyaga Deputy Governor Peter Ndambiri has dismissed those fighting him and the county government as distractors.
This follows Friday's outburst by three ex-MPs from the county who said the county government has neglected Mwea in terms of development.
The three, Alfred Nderitu, Peter Gitao and Winnie Nyawira took Ndambiri saying he hails from the area but has failed to initiate development in it.
In a rejoinder on Saturday at Sagana, Ndambiri said the outburst is uncalled for calling saying the sensational politics should not be allowed challenging the former MPs to show what they did during their tenure.
He said that the attacks are meant to derail his 2022 gubernatorial bid.
"Mwea people knows who is their next governor. They have already endorsed me, after visiting me and I accepted their request, having held a meeting in the constituency, they had agreed to support me," said Ndambiri.
