North Eastern Regional Commissioner Mohamed Birik has assured residents of Ijara, Garissa County of adequate security ahead of the census this weekend.
Birik together with his security team visited Ijara and held meetings with chiefs and assistant chiefs to look into the security preparedness.
Birik assured the community that security officers are alert to avert any threat that may jeopardize the exercise in the area.
The community was urged to work together with the security team to ensure they are well protected and that the exercise is a success.
Ijara MP Sophia Abdi Noor on her Facebook page posted that there will be enough security ahead of the census exercise that will kick off on August 24.
“We had the pleasure of hosting the Regional Commissioner (RC) of North Eastern Mr Mohamed Birik in Ijara together with his security team.”
“The team was on a mission to assess the preparedness of the sub-county for the upcoming census and review the security plans to ensure the safety of the census team and the community at large,” posted Noor on Facebook.
Noor appealed to residents from Ijara constituency to come out in large numbers to be counted during the exercise.
