A man in Riabigutu village, Bonyakoni in Nyaribari Masaba, Kisii County has publicly differed with his five children over the burial site of his wife.
Locals said the family of the deceased Elmelda Osebe disagreed over her burial site.
"Osebe's husband Victor Okemwa wants the deceased to be buried at a family land he bought the decision his elder two sons and three daughters have opposed," said a local Damaris Kwamboka.
Mrs. Kwamboka said Okemwa is a polygamous the main reason he wants Osebe the first wife to be buried far from the homestead.
"On Tuesday elders held a meeting for 4 hours to discuss the matter in vain. Okemwa has insisted that his deceased wife should be buried as by his plans," she noted.
Jackson Okemwa, the elder son said his mother must be buried at the homestead.
"My mother was a first wife who should be accorded respect. Dad will have no option rather than to accept failure to which he will relocate with his second wife," said Jackson.
Area assistant chief Joseph Omete said the burial of Osebe was scheduled to take place on Friday but, it was postponed until the family solves the wrangles.
"The burial will be held on a later date. Elders will again meet on Saturday to iron out the matter," he noted.
