Police in Kisumu are pursuing a deadly gang that brutally murdered a young Adminstration Police officer in Kisumu on Saturday.
Constable Francis Monte met his tragic death when manning Kenya Bureau of Standards in Kisumu, Kibos area.
Eye witnesses say that he was attached but did not die immediately, and would later perish at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital.
During the attack, Mr. Monte lost his rifle with over 30 bullets thus the ongoing search by the police.
OCPD Ancent Kaloki confirmed the attack and said efforts to recover the lost items were underway.
“The officer found his colleague lying with injuries on the head and chest, and with no firearm. We suspect the injuries were caused by a blunt object,” Kaloki said.
He added: "He has since lost his life and we send our condolences to the affected family."
At Nyamira, residents have formed a WhatsApp group in a bid to raise funds for his send-off.
His cousin, Douglas Oindo, said the family is yet to come to terms following the tragic death of the youthful officer.
"It's a sad moment. It came at the time we never expected but all that is God's plans."
