Opposition leader Raila Odinga has succeeded in retaining his grip in his Luo Nyanza bedrock, successfully overcoming any uprising opposition.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader who took over the Luo Kingpin seat from his late father Oginga Odinga has as well managed to keep it attached to him despite many disappointments courtesy of his futile presidential bids.
This he has achieved by always managing to politically and silently unleash his lieutenants against any opposing figure, leading to fear of any revolution attempt.
This was the case recently courtesy of the attempt by Migori Governor Okoth Obado who met the full force of Raila's brigade when he attempted to oppose the nomination of Ochillo Ayacko to vie for the county senatorial seat.
And though he ended up in prison not to witness the by-election, Raila's team led by Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed kept firing shots at him, and is yet to resume his rebellion after his recent release.
He has surrounded himself with a strong and vocal team of allies who have demonstrated their readiness to suppress any attempt to have an offensive stand.
Some of Raila's sworn defenders include Suba North lawmaker Millie Odhiambo, her Rangwe counterpart Lilian Gogo and Homa Bay MP Gladys Wanga.
The former Premier has as well used his vast experience to install his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party as the ultimate political block in the region.
And with the recurrent issues of shambolic primaries during elections, any rebellion is observed as a disqualification for the party ticket, followed by a loss during the polls.
Finally, his unfading presidential ambition has portrayed him as the most promising leader in the region, overshadowing all the others.
