The family says burial preparations for the 25 year-old are underway and she will be laid to rest at her family rural home in Othaya, Nyeri County.

Speaking to journalists at the deceased's Makongeni, Thika home on Sunday, the family said it is expecting over 2,000 people to attend the burial.

The family also says it expects politicians to attend Ivy's send-off.

The deceased family told journalists that a requiem mass will be held at St Andrews Church in Nairobi on Wednesday.

At the same time, Ivy's family is also appealing for financial support from Kenyans to help give her a good send-off.

The medical student was axed to death by a 28 year-old man alleged to be her lover.

The deceased was killed as she was going to write her exams on Tuesday last week.

The suspect, Naftali Kinuthia, who is said to have travelled from Thika to committ the heinious act is under police custody.

Kinuthia is expected to be arraigned in court to answer to murder charges once police complete investigation.

Ivy's brutal murder elicited countrywide condemnation from Kenyans and leaders.
