A woman has been admitted to the Thika Level Five Hospital after allegedly being raped by her biological son.
Doctors at the health facility on Friday told journalists who had visited the hospital to check on the woman that her 32-year-old son also infected her with a Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).
The son whose identity police have concealed has since been arrested and is being detained at the Mugoiri Police Post in Murang'a County as investigations into the incident which happened on July 25, 2018 continue.
A relative to the woman whose name has also not been given for ethical and legal reasons told reporters in Thika on Friday that they realised the woman had a problem after a family meeting that was held in Thika on July 31.
The relative said they saw the woman limping while walking and on asking what the problem was, she narrated how her son who lived with her at their home in Mugoiri location pounced on her, tore her clothes before raping her.
The relative further revealed that they drove all the way from Thika to Murang'a where they interrogated the woman's son before he was arrested.
The woman said the son warned her of dire consequences should she reveal details of what happened to her.
She also said her son burnt the sheets and blanket to conceal evidence.
