According to political commentator Alex Kimalel, Kenyans should only go for beneficial qualities that will better their livelihoods.

He has advised Kenyans to weigh aspirants by their manifesto and track records, and only pick the ones with the best of the mentioned.

"Lets not focus on tribalism or handouts but only two things; manifesto and track records (Tusilete ukabila ama kuangalia nani ako na pesa, ni mambo mawili tu; manifesto na track record)," he said on Radio Maisha on Tuesday.

His remarks were echoed by fellow panelist and political strategist David Osiany, who rooted for good leadership skills.

He advised Kenyans to go for people with what it takes to save the country from its current woes, from the presidency, down  to the ward reps.

"Kenyans should look for the person able to save the country. Let it be that way from the top all the way to the MCA level (Wananchi waangalie ni nani atakayeikomboa nchi. Iwe hivyo kutoka juu hadi kwa MCA)," he advised.

This comes as the ruling party seems divided on the way forward on the political loyalty.
