The elders led by David Sitienei Koskei and Wilson Koech said the county enforcement officials have been raiding the village and terrorizing residents without a justified reason.

"It is sad that instead of the county askaris bringing order, they are the ones breaking the law by terrorizing residents beating us while we are doing our job," said Koskei on Friday at Maili Tisa.

"We are also calling for justice for a young man  Samson Kipchirchir Chumba who was brutally beaten by the askaris leaving him with a fractured leg. We will not allow these to continue. Something needs to be done," added Koech.

Chumba, 27,  is among the many unemployed squatters living at Maili Tisa village in Turbo constituency who depend on hawking to get daily income.

They appealed to Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago and his security adviser Paul Ruto to intervene and also find ways of helping Chumba to get treatment.

"We also urge the county askaris to have a strong sense of duty and responsibility,"  Koskei maintained.
