Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has hit out at a section of landowners in Uasin Gishu who have gone to court to stop the valuation roll.
Mandago said the process has not even started and wondered why the landowners went to court.
“If you want to go to court, go our prayers as a county government to the court will be simply the court to appoint an independent valuer to give us the value of the property. Let us not abuse the court process yet the valuation roll has not been implemented,” said Mandago.
He spoke to the press at the county headquarters on Tuesday.
“We have not made a decision and I see people saying there is an increase of 600 per cent from when? We have not even gone to public participation, it has not even come to the executive committee meeting for decision making, we still have a long way to go,” Mandago added.
He further called on residents not to be misled by giving money to people collecting Sh1000 in the name of representing them in court yet the process has not started.
Mandago called on residents to see the proposed valuation roll and give recommendations which will thereafter, be compiled and go for public participation where residents will give their views on the same.
