An examinations supervisor in Nairobi West has found himself on the wrong side of the law after he opened the KCSE English Paper II before the scheduled time.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) made the announcement on its Twitter handle on Monday.
"A Supervisor of Nairobi West Centre arrested after opening KCSE English Paper II exam before scheduled time. All scripts were however kept intact and no question was leaked. Security agencies are handling the matter. The Centre is being hosted at Olympic Primary school, Kibera (sic), " the KNEC tweet read.
The development comes at the start of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams countrywide.
Over 600,000 students are sitting for KCSE this year.
The Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has vowed to crack down on exam cheating.
Education CS Prof George Magoha warned those keen on facilitating exam malpractices that they would be dealt with with the full force of the law.
He said that efforts to curb the vice in the just-ended Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) had been successful as no case of cheating was reported.
High ranking government officials oversaw the opening of the KCSE papers in various parts of the country.
