Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui has refuted claims that he is blocking the purported planned BBi rally in Nakuru on 8th February.
Addressing media in Nakuru on Wednesday, Kinyanjui said the County Government of Nakuru is yet to receive a formal request for the planned BBI rally.
The meeting is being planned by a section of MPs loyal to Deputy President William Ruto.
Kinyanjui noted that once communication on the same is made, then shall the county act to facilitate necessary arrangements.
"We shall facilitate necessary arrangements for the success of the meeting once we receive the request," he said.
According to the county boss, a meeting of that magnitude requires adequate preparations including security and other logistics.
He urged the conveyers of the meeting to ensure they communicate early for the arrangements to be in place adding that Nakuru has been a symbol of unity and harmony and the rally as well as any future meeting should live up to this.
"Being the first meeting for the team, they have an opportunity to define a harmonious start that Nakuru will offer. Insults, name-calling and character assassination will undermine the progress made so far in uniting the country," said Kinyanjui.
There were reports that the governor, allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta had blocked DP Ruto's allies from holding the parallel BBI meeting in Nakuru.
