It is now official that wearing miniskirts and skimpy dresses in Kisii County is an offence. This is according to a circular issued by the county government directing all staff that they will no longer be allowed to wear the casual dressing style effective immediately.
According to the Standard, county workers are expected to adopt an official dressing style save for Fridays when they will have to dress in branded and prescribed departmental attire.
Issuing the directive, Patrick Lumumba who is the county secretary revealed wearing skimpy dresses and mini skirts was in violation of part V section J (29) 1 and 2 of the Human Resources Policies and Procedures manual for Public Service 2016.
“All public officers are required to be well groomed and decently dressed to maintain an appropriate standard of dress and personal hygiene in public and private” reads the circular as quoted by the Standard.
Kisii now joins West Pokot county in the call demanding county staff to adopt official dressing mode as opposed to casual attire. Barely a year ago, West Pokot Governor Prof John Lonyang'apuo issued a stern directive notifying all county employees to adopt “appropriate” dressing modes as a means of identifying genuine from ghost staff.
