A teacher has been arrested for allegedly defiling a class 4 pupil in Yatta, Machakos County.
David Nzuki is accused of defiling the nine-year-old girl, a pupil from the same school in Matuu town.
The former Kilungu primary school's deputy headteacher flee early this year after parents held demonstrations demanding his arrest over the matter.Parents demanded that he be arrested and arraigned in court for defiling their children.Most parents transferred their female children to other schools due to the incident.
The irate parents said they couldn't be comfortable when their children attend such schools.
Nzuki was arrested by detectives on December 7.
He has been held at Matuu police station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
It is claimed that the teacher committed the offense on August 24, 2018, and threatened to punish the minor if she told anyone about the incident.
Yatta police boss Edward Changach confirmed the suspect's arrest.
Changach said firm legal action will be taken against the teacher.
He warned the residents against engaging in such illicit behaviors.
"We will never tolerate such acts in the society and anyone involved will be brought to book," Changach said.
