Uhuru, who had met Luo leaders at State House in Kisumu on Thursday night, landed at Raila's Opoda Farm minutes past 10am and was formally received by his host, Odinga, who was in navy blue suit.

After short greetings with local leadership, Uhuru proceeded to Raila's house where he met four other leaders jointly with Mr Odinga before the family was introduced to him.

"It was a closely guarded meeting. Just only four leaders were allowed in. They sat for about 30 minutes before joining other leaders in another room," an insider said in confidence.

He added: "I can't really tell what they discussed but it must have been sensitive. No photos were taken and the press was asked to keep off."

Among those in attendance were Senate Minority Leader James Orengo and flamboyant businessman Jimmy Wanjigi, whose presence could yet again ignite debate along political cycles.

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino was also allowed to attend. Raila's brother, Oburu Oginga, a proponent of the handshake chaired the meeting.

President Uhuru Kenyatta's handlers among them former Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, now State House Comptroller, were not allowed to feature in the secret meeting.

Afterwards, the team visited Jaramogi Oginga Odinga's mauseleum and museum before laying a wreath at Fidel Odinga's grave, not far from the venue.
