Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i on Friday put Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama on the spot over slow development in the county.
Matiang'i while speaking at Miruka challenged Nyagarama to move with speed to develop the county before he retires in 2022.
"The people of Nyamira have not fully enjoyed the fruits of devolution because there is too little being done by your government Mr Nyagarama. Can you please ensure there is accelerated development across all corners of Nyamira County," he said.
The no-nonsense CS further challenged Nyagarama to address the corruption claims as well as allegations of illegal hiring in his government.
He noted that if corruption won't be fought to the end, the people of Nyamira will remain behind in terms of development.
"I'm told corruption is at the peak in Nyamira yet we have the governor. I want to challenge the county boss to ensure anyone including his close allies engaging in corruption are sacked, arrested and prosecuted and the lost public funds recovered," he added.
Matiang'i said the people of Nyamira deserve development but the county government seems to be doing nothing to boost the livelihoods of residents.
