Wiper Nominated Member of County Assembly (MCA) Margaret Mwikali has called for the smooth transfer of patients from Shalom Hospital to other hospitals.
Mwikali who addressed journalists outside the health facility on Tuesday said that the patients shouldn't be rushed but given ample time to move from the hospital.
She noted that the patients should also be allowed to decide which hospital they deem fit to transfer to.
"Just like the governor said, let the patients move to whichever hospital they prefer. They shouldn't be rushed but given ample time to transfer," said Mwikali.
Mwikali further argued that patients with unpaid bills should not be detained at the facility.
She noted that if the patients go to public hospitals, they should be accorded the best services, adding that there is a reason why many residents prefer seeking health services at private hospitals.
"When these patients go to public hospitals let them be served well because there is a reason as to why many go to private hospitals instead of public ones," she said.
The MCA had gone to the hospital to oversee the transfer of the patients.
On Monday evening, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua gave the hospital's administration a notice of 48 hours to ensure no operations are being conducted at the facility.
This comes after a seven-month-old baby lost his life after he was given an overdose of morphine by a nurse at the facility on Sunday.
