Witnesses said the angry riders busted the deceased Jeremiah Magero with the motorbike which he stole from Bosose in Nyamira County one week ago.

"Magero is among the notorious motorbike thieves who have been hijacking riders mostly at night and steal their motorbikes. His forty days reached and he was caught riding the stolen motorbike by riders who have been looking for him for the last one week," said a local Zachary Osaso.

Mr Osaso said riders could not listen to the deceased plea to forgive him.

"None of the riders was ready to forgive him after he pleaded to guilty. The riders stoned him mercilessly to death," he noted.

Area assistant chief Boniface Ongubo said the suspect could not be rescued since Nyumba Kumi officials arrived late at the crime scene.

He warned residents against killing suspects.

"Criminals should be surrendered to police. Killing them is destroying evidence," said the administrator, adding that the deceased' body was taken to Nyamira County Hospital morgue.
