Residents of Mashamba area in Borabu Nyamira County are living in fear after a mutilated body of a 40-year-old woman was found dumped in a tea farm on Friday evening.

Confirming the incident Borabu OCPD Timothy Mwasia said tea pickers who were picking tea at the farm recovered the body of the deceased and informed authorities. 

"The mutilated body was found dumped inside the busy tea farm. The deceased identity is yet to be revealed because residents said she doesn't hail from the area," he said.

The OCPD said the woman might have been killed elsewhere before her body was dumped in the tea farm. 

According to Mwasia, the woman's ears were cut off, her hands had deep panga cuts and the head was crushed. 

He urged members of the public to volunteer information to police which will lead to the arrest of the woman's killers. 

"Probe has commenced to apprehend the woman's killers. Members of the public with their loved one missing should report to police as well," he added.

Mwasia said the body of the woman was moved to Nyansiongo hospital morgue.
