Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has joined other Kenyans in celebrating Harambee Stars historic 3-0 against Ethiopia’s at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani on Sunday.

He took to social media where he shared the message of goodwill to the team ahead of their journey to Cameroon.

“Asante sana #HarambeeStars. 3-0 is a certified win!!!! Olunga, Omondi and Wanyama, Fantastic job!! #KenyaVsEthiopia #AFCON2019Q #AFCON2019” he wrote. 

The Former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna, however, has attacked Kenyans for celebrating a win against a small team. 

The politician, who was deported following his role in the controversial swearing in of ODM leader Raila Odinga, compared Kenyans to adults who celebrate beating a toddler. 

He claimed that Ethiopia has suffered endless challenges including civil war for decades, adding that Kenyans to do need to be excited by such a win.

Kenyans from all walks of life made their way to the stadium to ensure Kenyan gets the needed win as they inched closer to the 2019 African Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.

Deputy President William Ruto, Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Nick Mwendwa, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa were among the high profile Kenyans who arrived at the Stadium to cheer the national team.

Kalonzo and Ruto congratulated the team for securing victory on the Kenyans soils.  ODM Leader Raila Amolo Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta were missing in action during the match.
