Abass said this would ensure safety of their children.

He said parents should always monitor their children's movements and know their whereabouts.

"Parents should know there children's whereabouts and what they are doing at any given moment.  Those with wells and small dams should ensure fencing or covering them to curb accidents," Abass said.

Abass spoke at a public baraza in Kyeleni ward on Wednesday.

He said children should not be left to go to water sources unaccompanied by adults.

Abass said the two boys who drowned last Friday would be alive today if an adult chose to accompany them to the well.

The duo had gone to fetch water when they slipped and fell into the well leading to their demise.

Abass said locals should make the police their allies and provide information that may help ensure security.

"We can't have total security if there is no collaboration between the police and locals, we must all work together for great results," he said.
