Raila Odinga's Orange Democratic Movement has dispatched two senior politicians to South Africa ahead of Sunday's polls in which President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to win by landslide.

In a tweet, ODM party revealed that Director of Political Affairs Wafula Buke and Migori County party chair Philip Makabongo will be representing Kenya's seasoned political party.

"Director of Political Affairs Mr. Wafula Buke and the Migori County Chairman Mr. Philip Makabongo leave the country today for South Africa where they will be part of the @AfricanLiberals Observor Team ahead of the General Election scheduled for Sunday 5th May 2019," read the tweet.

Cyril Ramaphosa, who replaced Jacob Zuma last year, is expected to lead his African National Congress to victory. Mr Ramaphosa is a close political and business partner of Mr Raila Odinga.

In 2008, President Mwai Kibaki's PNU wing rejected an offer by African Union to have Ramaphosa to mediate election crisis in Kenya, citing his closeness with Mr Odinga, who had disputed the outcome.

On Thursday, Ramaphosa expressed optimism that the legendary ANC will scoop most parliamentary seats on Sunday. The leader of majority party in parliament is voted as president by MPs.

"Tonight we received a lot of hope & positivity also, constructive criticism, I will leave here tonight humbled. I am truly touched by the amount of support and encouragement that we have received tonight," he said.

ODM has been the single largest political party in Kenya since 2007 but was overtaken by Jubilee in 2017 polls. Mr Odinga is now lobbying for parliamentary system of government, similar to that of Pretoria.

Democratic Party's Mmusi Maimane is tipped to be the closest challenger. The party has 70 MPs in the current parliament. Former ANC youth leader Julius Malema of Economic Freedom Fighters is also hoping to have his party perform well on Sunday.
