Nandi Hills Member of Parliament Alfred Keter has come out to explain why he did not attend Tuesday's night meeting by Rift Valley legislators in Nairobi.
The MPs and Senators met at Deputy President William Ruto's Weston Hotel to address issues surrounding the ongoing evictions of settlers at Mau Forest.
However, Keter, shunned the gathering saying he did not want to meet some leaders whom he described as 'Ruto's sycophants'.
“I did not attend the meeting. I have stayed away from such meetings since the 11th Parliament because of the sycophancy among some leaders,” he told a local daily on Wednesday.
A fierce critic of the DP, the second-time MP said he would only attend such a meeting only to discuss and seek solutions to challenges faced by Rift Valley residents such as non-payment of maize farmers and underfunding of the agriculture sector.
Keter has been blaming Ruto's allies over problems faced by the Kalenjin community such as maize scandal and evictions at the Mau water catchment area.
"I know William Ruto is brilliant, but he is surrounded by greedy and foolish people," the outspoken legislator said recently moments after winning a case at the Court of Appeal in Eldoret.
Moiben MP Silas Tiren was also a no-show at the meeting by Rift Valley legislators caucus where it has been reported that the leaders agreed to keep off the Mau debate and let the government handle the issue without interference.
