Speaking on Wednesday, Okango declared interest in the Kabondo parliamentary seat in Homa Bay county in the much anticipated polls.

He added that he has discussed the issue with a section of area residents, and will be going all out to popularize his bid in the near future.

"Wakazi was Kabondo kule Homa Bay county wajue ninakuja. Nimekuwa pale juzi na nikawaeleza watu kwamba ninakuja.

(Let Kabondo residents prepare because I am coming for the seat. I was there recently on the same mission and will be returning soon)," he said.

Okango was speaking on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Wednesday evening.

He expressed confidence in beating aspirants from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party which is deemed the dominant party in the region.

Okango poked holes into the party which holds the position currently, saying that its time it was pushed aside and replaced with a new leadership.

"Chungwa limekauka na kunyauka, ni wakati wa uongozi mpya (the Orange has gone dry, there is a need a new leadership)," he added.

The latter is very likely to run on the former Presidential hopeful Ekuru Aukot-led party, a party he (Okango) co-leads.
