With several legislators defying party orders, Uhuru is set to convince a host of Jubilee MPs to vote in his favour this afternoon.

But in Gusii, only three MPs have expressed their position on the controversial matter which could incite Kenyans against those who will vote for.

In several interviews on Monday, Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka dismissed the proposals by the President adding that they are unnecessary.

"We know where money is. Taxing helpless Mwananchi is unacceptable. We shall oppose the memorandum," he said.

Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati added: "People must come first and we can't allow the state to shift burden to them."

Kisii Women Rep Janet Ong'era has also dismissed Uhuru's memorandum terming it 'draconian'.

Interestingly, around 13 MPs from the vast Gusii region have remained mum on the Financial Bill, which if passed, prices for basic commodities my shoot substantially.

MPs are expected to vote on Tuesday afternoon in support or against the president's proposal.
