The late Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Cherono Laboso went to Kenya Girls High School and schooled with a section of colleagues who later become prominent Kenyans.
This was revealed by ODM Party leader Raila Odinga's wife Ida Odinga, during Laboso’s memorial service held at the ACK All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi on Thursday.
Ida was one of Laboso’s teachers at the time.“I first met Joyce at the Kenya High way back in 1976 when I think Joyce was in form three,” she said.
“She learned in the school at the same time with people like Njoki Ndung’u, Wavinya Ndeti, Gloria Ominde, Auma Obama, Nyagoy Nyong’o and many others that I cannot call all their names her,” she added.
Ndeti is the former Kathiani MP, former gubernatorial candidate for Machakos County and currently, the Chairperson of the governing council of the Kenya Water Institute.
Ndung’u is a Supreme Court judge while Dr Auma Obama is sister to former US President Barack Obama.
Dr Risper Nyagoy is sister to Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o.
Ida noted she was among the people who prevailed upon her to vie for the Sotik parliamentary seat when her elder sister, Lorna Laboso died in a plane crash, June 2008.
Laboso will be buried at her husband’s home in Koru, Kisumu on Saturday.
