Kuresoi South Member of Parliament Joseph Tonui on Friday demanded President Uhuru Kenyatta come clean on allegations that he is eyeing the Prime Minister post.
According to the MP, the silence of President Uhuru Kenyatta was creating tension among legislators and doubts among Kenyans on the real objective of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report which recommended the creation of the post.
Mr Tonui while speaking at Tinet Kabongoi Girls Secondary School claimed that it was crucial for the President to formally address the allegations which have further indicated that Opposition leader Raila Odinga is also meant to benefit from the BBI report by getting a leadership position.
The MP pointed out that clearing the allegations would also contribute to the unity of the Jubilee party which has been wanting in recent days.
“It is unfortunate that MPs have been reading from different scripts on party issues with the President failing to grant them a meeting to ventilate on the issues and take a common approach for the sake of party unity,” he stated.
Kuersio MP is however not the first legislator to advise the President to address the allegations and take charge of the Jubilee party leadership.
There has been a division in the Jubilee party where a section of the party members sidelined themselves with Deputy President William Ruto while others supported president, Uhuru Kenyatta.
