Ms. Bernadette Ogega, the newly crowned Miss Tourism Nyamira County, says she will run for Nyamira Women Rep seat.
The 21-year-old was crowned winner in a beauty pageant competition over the weekend in Nairobi, amid protests from her constituents.
And the former Miss Campus MMUST and Vice President in the same institution, said she will use the position to champion for the rights of marginalized.
“I want to become the next Nyamira Woman Rep in 2022,” she says.
She added: "It is all about going for it. When you have a will, there will be certainly a way."
Should she join the race in 2022, she would battle out with the incumbent Jerusha Momanyi, former Women Rep Alice Chae, Grace Nyamongo among others.
A business woman per excellence, Ms. Ogega ventured into cosmetic business that has fetched her millions since her days in campus.
"After I received Sh35,000 from the Higher Education Loans Board (Helb). I went to Gikomba market in Nairobi and bought mitumba clothes and ladies’ shoes worth Sh25,000,” said Miss Benita.
She hails from Mekenene ward, one of the sparsely populated areas in Nyamira County.
