Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i must end the gang groups in Kenya reportedly terrorizing innocent people, an elected senator allied to ODM party has said.
Sam Ongeri, the Kisii County senator, argued that gang groups such as Mungiki should not be condoned by the security officers.
"I'm appealing to Matiang'i to ensure gang groups are brought down because the outlawed gang groups shot dead a bright man and aspiring politician Samuel Ragira who are determined to change the leadership of this country," he said.
Mr Ongeri called upon police officers investigating the brutal murder of Ragira to move with speed and bring the killers into book.
He questioned Matiang'i's silence over the brutal murder of Ragira.
"No one has heard Matiang'i speaking over Ragira's death. Matiang'i should be vocal the same way we have been seeing him active when people from other communities are killed by gang groups," he said.
The ODM senator maintained that youths should join vocational training institutions to get technical skills instead of joining gang groups to attack, rob and kill people.
"Youths should eat from their sweat," he stated.
