Petro's 2 - 0 win over NA Hussein means Gor have a chance to decide their fate in the last eight qualification come on Sunday, 17th, March.
An early goal by defender Mahmoud Alaa on the 13th minute and forward Youssef Obama's second goal 12 minutes later saw the hosts lead at halftime.
Two late strikes by Ferjani Sassi and Omar El Said on 84th and 86th minutes respectively was enough to assure the Cairo-based Zamalek of top spot with 8 points and also earned sweet revenge against Gor, who beat them 4 - 2 in Nairobi.
The win means Zamalek need a point against NA Hussein on 17th match to seal a berth in the last eight.
Gor Mahia on the other hand, sit at the bottom of Group D with six points, but have a chance to qualify if they beat Angolan side Petro on Sunday.
Petro are second with seven points same as NA Hussein, thanks to 2 - 0 win over the Algiers in Luanda, Angola.
