The DP has been traversing the country in the name of launching development projects, a move that has irked a section of his critics.

At Kameme FM on Thursday, Ruto said his critics were worried of his rapid rise in politics, adding that they have to live with the fact that he's the Deputy President.

"Mimi my friend, I won't be seated here were it not for God. I used to sell chicken. I was very tiny at that time. But Zechariah 4:10 says, do not forget your humble beginning.

"That's the problem with these people. But this man whom we don't even know his father, how did he even reach here? How did he become Deputy President? But they have to live with it. They are not God," he said.

Ruto first won Eldoret North constituency seat in 1997, beating renowned politician Reuben Chesire, a close ally of retired President Daniel Moi.

Thereafter, he would be appointed as a minister. His politics took a U-turn in 2007 when he worked with Raila Odinga. Even after quitting ODM, he founded his political base in Rift Valley.

Currently, he's at pole position to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, but his quest is facing fierce resistance from within Jubilee Party.
