Former Kibwezi West MP Kalembe Ndile has dismissed Siaya senator James Orengo’s threat to initiate an impeachment motion against Deputy President William Ruto.
Ndile has termed the alleged impeachment motion against the DP as pure political malice and sideshow.
In a phone interview on Monday, the former TIP TIP party leader said DP Ruto has done nothing wrong to be removed from office.Ndile accused Orengo of creating political anxiety and tension in the country with the alleged impeachment.“I don’t think the Deputy President has done anything wrong to warrant his impeachment and Orengo should drop the motion if it exists for the sake of the country’s unity,” he said.The former lawmaker accused politicians of engaging Kenyans in early 2022 succession politics at the expense of service delivery.“Our leaders instead of championing development are busy engaging in political sideshows when Kenyans are facing serious problems like hunger and starvation,” he added.
Ndile said it is too early for politicians to campaign and lobby for 2022 election seats.
Senator Orengo’s threat to impeach DP Ruto continues to elicit debate across the political divide.
A section of politicians allied to DP Ruto is accusing Orengo of political malice in his impeachment plan.The politicians further accuse opposition leader Raila Odinga of allegedly having a hand in the plot to remove Ruto from office.Raila’s close allies among them Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga say that he (Raila) is not sponsoring Orengo's motion.The Siaya Senator insists that he has enough grounds to push for DP Ruto’s impeachment.#hivisasaoriginal
