The soft-spoken governor was in Turi, Molo, on Thursday during the burial of area chief Jackson Njoroge, when he said 2022 politics is not welcome.

Area MP Kuria Kimani started political fireworks when he told residents to think about who can succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the Mt Kenya bigwig.

“When we look at Nyanza we have people who can take over after Raila Odinga, the same for Rift Valley and Eastern, but what about Central? There is no one,” Kimani said.

When the governor addressed residents, he said such a debate is not important at the moment.

“There is no need of starting talks about 2022, what is important is development for the people. But if we start talking about who will succeed who or who is the spokesperson of which region it will not help mwananchi,” Kinyanjui said.

He also remained cagey about his 2022 plans despite several speakers urging residents to consider him for reelection.
