ODM leader Raila Odinga for the first time hosted Center of Multiparty Democracy chair Omingo Magara, with whom he parted ways in 2011 during the storm in ODM party.

At Capitol Hill on Thursday, the two held a brief meeting on strengthening the d d democratic space in the country with Mr Magara terming the meeting 'very fruitful'.

"It was a very successful meeting. Mr Odinga and I have a history that we all cherish. Our main aim is to ensure we have expanded the democratic space in our nation," he said.

During 2007 polls, Omingo, one of the co-founder of ODM, served as the party's treasurer and de facto representative among the Abagusii community.

And since his exit, former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has been serving in the position besides acting as Raila Odinga's main man in the Gusii community.

Mr Odinga expressed his pleasure for meeting Omingo and insisted that a lot has to be done with the input of CMD, which Omingo has been chairman for long.

"It is about cooperation. We must leave Kenya a better place than we found it. Omingo and his team have an obligation to guide us through," he noted.
