Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki on Thursday toured Kisumu County where he paid a courtesy call to area Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at his offices at the county headquarters in Kisumu City.
Kariuki also presided over the inspection of the ongoing construction of the Lumumba Hospital which has a capacity of 150 beds in the company of Nyong’o and First Lady Dorothy Nyong’o.
She urged the county management to beef up primary healthcare services to ensure prevention, early diagnosis and timely treatment and rehabilitation.

CS Kariuki also presided over the Universal Healthcare pilot program registration at Ogada Primary School.
Kisumu has been elected alongside Machakos and Nyeri for the pilot program seeking to give Kenyans better healthcare as is contained in the Jubilee manifesto.
Kisumu county has since registered 117, 000 residents into the program out of the targeted 240,000.
