Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has rewarded a 10-year-old girl from Mombasa only identified as Sheilah with Sh10,000. The 10-year-old received a cheque on Wednesday for a portrait she drew of the governor.

According to Nairobi County boss, his portrait drawing by Sheilah amazed him. Sonko noted that principles of true art are not to portray, but actually to evoke. 

"We need to support such artistry so they cannot only earn a living from their God-given talents but also grow knowing that artistry like any other career pays. She also runs a foundation in support of art," Sonko wrote his official Facebook page.

The Nairobi Governor further noted that he encouraged the young girl to also put in as much effort in her studies.

"I encouraged her to also focus on her studies at the moment for it will propel her even more in her future endeavours," further read his post.

One of his followers, Davis stark told the governor to keep it up because it was inspiring.

"Very inspiring and thank you, governor, for that monetary appreciative reward given to that lady. It will help a lot i.e covering her education fee and expenses," stark praised Sonko
