The two rival teams comprising women lawmakers emerged after the ruling Jubilee Party divided into two factions over the 2022 succession debate.

Team Embrace appears to be an extension of Kieleweke group which rallies behind the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

It is led by Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs Chief Administrative Secretary Rachel Shebesh, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Mumbi Kamotho and Homa Bay Women Representative Gladys Wanga.

On the other hand, Inua Mama group supports Deputy President William Ruto and it is led by Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and MPs Alice Wahome (Kandara) and Aisha Jumwa (Malindi).

Asked by a tweep which group she was likely to join, Karua said she was not ready to wade into Jubilee wars and will continue leading her over decade-old Narc-Kenya.

"Kenyans are waiting to see the women political group the iron lady of Kenya Martha Karua will join; Inua Mama or Embrace Kenya? Known to swim against the current, will she form another group of her own? ...only time will tell," said a tweep under pseudo name WomenInLeadershipKE on Friday.

In her reply, Karua stated: "You forget that I lead Narc-Kenya while the two groups you cite are driven by internal wars in Jubilee Party. Be informed that I am not a gun for hire!"

The former Justice Minister and Gichugu MP vied for presidency in 2013, Kirinyaga gubernatorial seat in 2017 and describes herself on Twitter as 'future presidential candidate'.
