The supermarket in which a viral clip showing a man beating up a female cashier has issued a statement regarding the incident.
Eastmatt Supermarket which is located in Kajiado through the statement released on Saturday admitted that the man was one of its employees.
Although the statement did not reveal details of what led to the confrontation between the two workers, it acknowledged that the cashier had indeed been assaulted and was undergoing treatment.
According to reports from Nairobi News, the incident took place on Tuesday in the afternoon.
The man has also been relieved of his duties at the supermarket and in addition, the case was recorded at the Kajiado Police Station.
It, however, remains unclear on whether the man has been arrested or not.
“The individual in question acted solely and has been suspended with a report officially being filed with the Kajiado County police (who) are handling the matter accordingly,” part of the statement read.
“We as Eastmatt condemn and do not stand for such heinous acts of disrespect against any of our staff and more so women,” the supermarket added.
The name of the employee was however not mentioned.
